A SENSE OF WONDER AND PLAY
“I like the power a single image can have, and that an image can hold its own in a multitude of different contexts.”
—Jack Davison, photographer
British photographer Jack Davison is obsessed with shooting a moment of beauty and surprise, while at the same time looking for a feeling of peace in his images. Drawn to the quietness that lies between light and shadows, ANEST COLLECTIVE’s work is infused with a sense of flow, rhythm, shape and texture.Through the lens of surrealism, ANEST COLLECTIVE has constructed a series of spring loops, which also represent the circular journey of energy.
Jack Davison’s early studies of English literature helped him to connect with the strong, emotional colours and romantic aesthetic, capturing this selection of whimsical images that blur the lines between reality and dream. The concealed front acts like a riddle, requiring a concentrated gaze to clarify its context. Every line in the silhouette is woven into the story.
The seemingly mysterious symbols, metaphorical props, shadow superpositions and changes formed by refraction and reflection play out in the consciousness of ANEST COLLECTIVE. Light and shadow appear in a calm and orderly rhythm, not messy, not sloppy, facing each other peacefully, but not disappearing. Through the lens of Jack Davison, ANEST COLLECTIVE becomes a mixture of wonder and fun, and an endless exploration into what is hidden beneath the surface.
