These Gotti candles designed by Marco Parmeggiani for ANEST draw from two traditional techniques. The balloton technique creates a diamond relief pattern that refracts light, while the rigadin introduces vertical ridges with an elegant, fluted effect.
These ancient methods create a ribbed and lattice texture that captures light and enhances the beauty of the glass. Inspired by goti de fornasa, the humble yet intricate drinking vessels crafted by artisans from spare glass parts to quench their thirst during long hours by the furnace, the glass designs embody a celebration of utility and beauty.
Each candle is paired with a ceramic plate that doubles as a cover, adorned with a depiction of the labyrinth, migong.
The fragrance draws from the tranquil beauty of Torcello, an island garden anchored by a Byzantine church.
Notes of geranium evoke the lush, floral landscape, while hints of oud and incense recall the sacred atmosphere at the heart of the island as well as age-old Venetian palaces. Together, they create a grounding and meditative scent that lingers in any space.
